Men Are Getting It!

By Clea Spahn

Cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures in the country are still mostly sought after by women, but nowadays there are more and more men that are choosing to have these procedures done. There has been a recent boom in methods that enhance appearance that are non-surgical, and men are now getting involved.

Men like things that are inconspicuous so they don't have to justify their actions to their friends and they like things with no downtime so it doesn't disturb the rest of their lifestyle. It has become evident that men have been looking closer at their skin and noticing imperfections, they are interested in looking their best, as well as watching for signs of skin cancer. The more exposure to the sun that someone has had, the less effective the elasticity of the skin will be, and they will look more aged because of this.

The damage that is caused by the sun can be partially repaired and protected using advancements in skin care techniques. It is pretty quick to apply, a little at night before bed, and an application following the morning shave.

Rhinoplasty is an operation that men tend to particularly seek out. Usually it's the size of the nose that is the issue, but an uneven or crooked nose are also reasons for the procedure. Usually this is a day patient procedure that uses a general anaesthetic, and there could be some bruising for 2 weeks, with the patient returning to work in a week after a rhinoplasty.

Men are more attracted to a procedure that will leave only minimal scars, so they also look at face lifts and neck lifts, and blepharoplasty. Men do not wish to look like a lot of work has been done. Mostly, men would prefer to have some wrinkles than have a major surgical procedure that would be obvious to their acquaintences.

Fat is targeted in men using exercise and proper diet regimes, but even so, there are still some areas that have fat remaining. Commonly this is in the flank region or on the abdomen where men tend to carry most of their fat. Liposuction can be administered as a day patient procedure, and men don't need to interrupt their schedule much as returning to work the next day is usually fine.

Accompanying this expanding interest in the muscular athletic male body is a desire for hair removal. Using the latest advances in laser technology, hair removal has become more and more effective in recent years. For the selected areas of the body, several treatments are needed, and one should avoid tanning before undergoing this process.

Men have these procedures done because of their own concerns, and they are not the same as what motivates women. There is a competitive pressure in the marketplace for men, real or imagined. In order to turn back the clock and look youthful once again, finding a cosmetic surgeon who has treated men and has that experience is wise.
