What are the risks of this operation? Weight loss may be unsatisfactory, drastic weight loss is not a guarantee. That is the reason patients are asked to have realistic expectations. The operation is not a license to live carefree. Even after undergoing the cut, the patient has to be extremely cautious about their lifestyle to live healthy and prevent post operation weight gain. In addition, the amount the patient feeds on has to be constantly monitored to prevent overeating that will lead to nausea and vomiting. Lastly, patients will have to take a multivitamin for the rest of their lives to compensate for mal-absorption.
