Some Weight Loss Advice

By Marc Santoriana

Vitamin B12 has long been known to play an important role in the monitoring and maintaining of body functions. This vitamin is of the water soluble variety, and is crucial for higher brain and nervous system function, and blood formation. It is one of eight B vitamins that are found in the body. It is also needed to make DNA which is genetic material found in all cells and it is also needed for energy production. Not having enough B12 in the body is one of the reasons the skin appears to age, so for creams that are designed for anti-ageing, this is usually an ingredient. There are many alternatives to getting your B12, either the pure topical form, as part of anti-aging creams, or by injection.

Weight loss is not caused by Vitamin B12 on it's own. Metabolism is increased by this vitamin, and that will be of use to a person that is trying to shed weight. One of its main roles is to metabolize fats and proteins. Energy is increased by this, so exercise is much easier and weight loss is a result of getting active. Vitamin B12 is known to slow weight gain down significantly also, if that is an issue as well as losing weight. Vitamin B12 deficiencies have been linked in studies that show that those who lack this vitamin are more likely to be obese, due to their energy insufficiencies.

The benefits of B12 shots may also be reduced stress levels. The benefits for those taking B12 that are out of shape, are much higher than what they do for a person who is already in an optimal physical form. A B12 shot may be what you need if your body is feeling like it is running less than optimally, and need extra energy.

A diet rich in B12 is an option also and it is a good idea for maintaining health, but for those who need to shed a lot of weight, foods do not contain enough of this vitamin for that purpose. Increasing metabolism in the body by pills is much less effective than shots of B12, so this is the choice that those wanting a boost in this area usually make. The injections are usually administered on a bi-weekly or a monthly basis as part of the Vitamin B12 and weight loss plan, however, this can change depending on the discussion between the patient and the physician.

Everyone is different, and because of this, talking to an doctor about beginning a procedure like this is something we all should do, for safety's sake.

As with any type of injection, there are some potential side effects. Some of the effects reported in the past are diarrhea, headaches, some slight pain at the injection site, nausea, vomiting, or palpitations.

Frankly speaking, the shots give a tremendous boost of energy. Exercise is typically much easier to endure and recover from after treatments, this and the added confidence from this can promote better diet choices also. It also helps to fight stress and depression, symptoms which are sometimes associated with weight gain.
